Valmet to supply pulp technology equipment to Zellstoff Pöls in Austria
Comment Print

Valmet will supply pulp technology equipment for a new pulp stream of unbleached kraft pulp to Zellstoff Pöls AG, Austria. The company is a part of the Heinzel group. The delivery is planned for June 2023. The value of the order will not be disclosed.

The project will support Zellstoff Pöls AG's target to produce unbleached pulp in addition to their production of bleached softwood kraft pulp.

"With the high consistency extraction after the existing TwinRoll press, we save a washing stage in the following process step. By using the TwinRoll press with variable nip, an optimal adapted production range can be achieved. Through many years of cooperation Valmet has excellent plant knowledge, which ensures optimal plant improvement and reaching our project targets," says Stefan Moitzi, Project Engineer, Zellstoff Pöls.

The delivery includes a Valmet TwinRoll press, screening technology, a solution of screw conveyors and a dosing screw. The unique solution of screw conveyors and dosing screw can extract the requested amount of pulp at high consistency after the Valmet TwinRoll press, before Oxygen delignification. Valmet´s Twin Roll press combined with the variable nip control feature is a perfect fit for this application where the production range will vary significantly depending on the market´s demand.

Zellstoff Pöls AG, which belongs to the Heinzel group, is one of Europe's largest producers of elemental chlorine-free (ECF) bleached softwood sulphate pulp. Their operation is located in the federal province of Styria in Austria, where Zellstoff Pöls produces bleached softwood kraft pulp ORION and bleached kraft paper STARKRAFT.

Valmet is a leading global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation and services for the pulp, paper and energy industries.
