Comment Print

Valmet has secured a contract to provide a 50 MW pellet-fired heating plant to Göteborg Energi AB, which will be located at Mölndal Energi's Riskulla site in Mölndal, Sweden. The plant, set to start operations in late 2026, will enhance the renewable energy capacity in the region.

The new plant, integrated into the existing district heating system, will be managed by Mölndal Energi. It aims to increase renewable district heating in the southern part of Göteborg Energi's network and optimize heat production in Mölndal and Gothenburg.

Per-Anders Gustafsson, CEO of Göteborg Energi, highlighted the benefits: "This investment will make our operations more resource-efficient and boost renewable district heating. Customers in Mölndal and Gothenburg will enjoy more cost-effective and reliable heating."

Aleksi Salmirinne, Vice President of Valmet's Energy business unit, emphasized the ongoing collaboration: "We are pleased to continue our partnership with Göteborg Energi, replacing fossil fuels with renewable wood pellets. This order builds on our long history of successful projects together."

Valmet's comprehensive delivery includes a boiler system with wood pellet storage and milling, wood dust dosing, and a flue gas cleaning system featuring Valmet's Bag House Filter and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system.

Göteborg Energi, owned by the city of Gothenburg, employs nearly 1,000 people dedicated to sustainable energy solutions and improving the city's environmental footprint.
