Comment Print

Valmet is to deliver a modern lime kiln to Kuantum Papers Limited in Punjab, India. After the installation of the lime kiln and a satellite cooler, the lime kiln production capacity will increase to 200 tonnes per day.

The order is included in Valmet's orders received of the fourth quarter 2024. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The project's duration is approximately one year, with the installation planned to take place at the end of 2025.

"Kuantum Papers' investment in a lime kiln from Valmet is part of our broader growth strategy and aligns with our long-term commitment towards sustainability and operational efficiency. The lime kiln, a key component in the recausticizing process in chemical recovery, helps convert calcium carbonate into burnt lime, which can be reused, thus enhancing circularity in our process. Valmet's lime kiln is known for its energy-efficient design, supporting biofuel solutions and low-emission operations," says Pavan Khaitan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Kuantum Papers.

"The new lime kiln proves our commitment to providing innovative and sustainable solutions to the pulp and paper industry. It will enhance efficiency, energy savings, and the mill's environmental performance. This project strengthens our position in lime kiln projects," says Pawan Kumar Agarwal, Director, India Region, Asia Pacific, Valmet.
