Helsinki (News release) - EcoVadis has awarded UPM a platinum score based on the company's sustainability performance in four categories: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. Only one percent of the 130,000 global companies assessed received a platinum rating. UPM scored 81/100 in the Manufacture of Pulp, Paper, and Paperboard industry.
"The feedback from Ecovadis, both on strengths and areas of improvement, is extremely valuable and helps us to continuously improve our sustainability performance," says Sami Lundgren, Vice President, Responsibility, UPM.
"In this year's assessment, I would like to highlight our good scores in labour and human rights and related policies. Our commitments and transparent reporting in areas such as health and safety, gender pay equity, living wage, and diversity and inclusion, demonstrate our intention to improve performance and mitigate risks. UPM's top rating also recognises the work we have done to promote sustainability throughout the value chain. We have a comprehensive sustainable supply chain programme that drives compliance and risk mitigation and helps achieve our environmental, social, and governance targets and ambitions."
