Last week, it was announced that "BillerudKorsnäs joins forces with Syntegon Technology to launch Recyclable Flow Wrap, a paper based packaging solution that enables a shift from conventional plastic to renewable and recyclable materials."

In the article, it states that "We are happy to launch a paper based flow wrap solution. The product is recyclable as paper and brand owners don't have to compromise neither product shelf life nor converting productivity in comparison to plastic packaging options" says Peter Åström, Project Manager Recyclable Flow Wrap.

As of yet, I haven't seen a response from Greenpeace regarding this.

Last year, when Nestlé announced that it unveiled a recyclable, biodegradable paper wrapping on one of its snack bars, Greenpeace was highly critical of the move saying that the "change didn't go far enough."

According to Euronews.com, Greenpeace was quoted saying "These kinds of false solutions, which are not environmentally friendly, are what put us in this mess in the first place. We need Nestlé to innovate away from the single-use model entirely. We call on the company to immediately reduce its plastic packaging and implement reusable systems rather than grasping at a quick fix that could cause further environmental disasters such as deforestation."

We will have to wait and see Greenpeace's response to this announcement.
