British Columbia has committed more than $97 million to support forestry-sector manufacturers through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund (BCMJF), contributing to the protection of over 3,500 jobs and attracting $680 million in private investment.

The Government of Canada has announced an investment exceeding $20 million to support 67 projects aimed at strengthening British Columbia's forest sector. The funding, unveiled by Minister Jonathan Wilkinson, will enhance competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience in the industry.

With this new project, Saica Group will create more than 100 new jobs in the State of Indiana once the facility is operating at full capacity.

Metsä Group has signed an agreement for partial funding from the EU Innovation Fund, securing a maximum grant of Euro 86.5 million for its Muoto packaging product mill planned for construction in Rauma, Finland. The company confirmed the agreement following negotiations that began in October 2024, according to Metsä Group.

According to the EPA, the company has not started any construction on the property, but the Western Reserve Port Authority remains optimistic about the project.

Kruger Inc. announced a $6.5-million investment to implement an innovation project aimed at diversifying production at its Wayagamack Mill in Trois-Rivières.

According to the ordinance's language, Kimberly-Clark Corporation and Kimberly-Clark Palmetto Inc. "acting for themselves, one or more current or future affiliates, and other project sponsors" would like to "establish and/or expand a manufacturing and distribution facility in county."

First Quality Tissue Midwest will invest $984 million in the project and has committed to create more than 400 new jobs and $22.5 million in new annual payroll by 2032.

One of the major focuses of this project will be to upgrade the existing boiler, which will increase fuel efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and help boost the local economy through the jobs the project will create during the renovation.

Sylvamo announces major investments at its two South Carolina facilities. The company plans to invest approximately $145 million in high-return projects to reduce costs and significantly enhance the capabilities at its mill in Eastover, South Carolina.

Domtar plans to start construction on the new treatment system later in 2025.
