Södra announces price hikes for spruce and pine
Print

Demand for forest raw materials from family forestry remains. To meet the need for winter, from both the timber market and Södra's industries, Södra is raising the prices for spruce and pine timber from 9 October.

Södra's assessments show continued good demand for forest raw materials. This mainly applies to the demand for timber from spruce, pine and fuelwood. Södra is therefore implementing a price increase of SEK 30/m³fub for timber from spruce and pine and SEK 20/m³fub for fuelwood from 9 October. The price increase means that Södra is expected to meet the demand for raw materials during late autumn and winter, which may be affected by challenges with bearing capacity in the forest.

- We see that there is continued good demand for forest raw materials both in the short and long term, which is positive for the forest farm's profitability. At the same time, we operate in a time where the commodity market contains many uncertainties. It requires continued flexibility and adaptability along the way, says Peter Karlsson, business area manager for Södra Skog.

The following price adjustments are made and apply from 9 October 2023:
  • For normal spruce and pine timber, the basic price is increased by SEK 30/m³fub

  • For fuel wood, the basic price is increased by SEK 20/ m³fub

The market premium for pulpwood continues to apply until 31 December 2023. Contact your inspector for more information about the price increase and premiums.
