Print

Alast, Belgium 23 November 2018 -- The Ondulys Gheysens sheetplant, located in Tourcoing in the north of France, underwent a vast modernization. Next to new offices, meeting rooms and employee facilities, the design studio was revamped and the entire central production area was provided with an energy efficient LED lighting installation. In addition to a new co-design working space, an Elitron plotter was installed in October.

Combining packaging development and production

The installation of the new Elitron plotter provides the opportunity to deliver a new service to our customers, as the new machine is used for both new product development and production of small and medium series of packaging. The machine can manipulate corrugated board up to 2.2m by 3.2m.

Main benefits for our customers result in increased production flexibility, higher reactivity and hence competitive speed-to-market. Moreover, the design studio will be further equipped to focus on co-design together with our customers, allowing to develop and test packaging solutions together and produce dry-runs on the spot.
Co-design is a collaborative working method where customer and supplier work closely together to innovate and develop new solutions, in an open-minded and constructive setting. The infrastructure of the co-design lab will be finalized shortly, to start first test sessions with customers in the first quarter of 2019. The collaborative approach is fully in line with VPK's premise to be Close to you and your products.
Unique service offering
The finalization of the project is testimony to the unique service towards our French customers, provided by VPK's subsidiary Ondulys. Through a network of 11 plants, combining box plants, sheet plants and distribution hubs, customers can benefit from a unique flexibility in any range of quantities and qualities of packaging solutions. Sheetplants, in addition to box plants, allow for:Increased flexibility
    • High speed-to-market
    • Innovation and development of new packaging solutions
    • Improved business continuity
