Kadant Starts up Approach Flow Cleaner Systems at Bracell's Lençóis Paulista Mill
Comment Print

Norrköping, Sweden - Kadant Noss AB, a subsidiary of Kadant Inc. (NYSE:KAI), announced it successfully started up two approach flow cleaner systems for production of bleached hardwood kraft. The start-up on dissolving pulp is planned for the beginning of 2022. The equipment is part of the Bracell's "STAR" project in Lençóis Paulista, São Paulo located within an Andritz pulp drying approach flow area.

Project STAR is one of the largest and most sustainable pulp mills in the world, operating with high environmental standards. It features two flexible, environmentally friendly pulp drying lines for a capacity of 2.6 to 2.8 million tons per year of bleached kraft pulp or 1.5 million tons per year of dissolving pulp made from sustainably cultivated eucalyptus.

Kadant Noss' scope of supply for each of the two production lines includes a Radiscreen-C protection screen and a seven-stage Radiclone AM80 forward cleaner system followed by a Radiclone BM80 reverse cleaner stage for thickening of the pulp. Both systems are directly coupled to the headbox.

The Radiclone AM80 hydrocycloning system features one of the highest removal efficiencies available for heavyweight contaminants and is used in all applications with a high demand for pulp and paper cleanliness. These systems are particularly suitable for dissolving pulp production, where the requirements for pulp cleanliness and chemical purity are extremely high. The low operating costs in conjunction with the high-performance cleaning capability make these systems a first choice for efficient fiber processing.
