Interfor to Market Ilim Timber's Products
Print

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada 16 October 2014 -- (Marketwired) -- Interfor Corporation (IFP.TO) ("Interfor") and Ilim Timber announced today they have reached an agreement under which Interfor will market Ilim Timber's European lumber products in North America.

"This agreement allows Interfor to offer North American customers more choice," said Steven Hofer, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Interfor. "We already have one of the broadest ranges of lumber products in the world, and Ilim Timber's European spruce and red pine lumber is a perfect complement to our existing whitewood program."

"Ilim Timber welcomes the opportunity to market quality sawn goods from our German mills under the Interfor brand," said Carsten Doehring, CEO, Business Unit Germany. "As one of the biggest German exporters, Ilim Timber sees good potential in cooperation with Interfor, a strong and proactive player in the North American lumber market."

The first shipment of European spruce and red pine will arrive on the eastern seaboard of the US in the second half of October this year.

The sales agreement builds on the relationship between Interfor and Ilim Timber and follows Interfor's acquisition earlier this year of two sawmills in the US South from a subsidiary of Ilim Timber.
