Century Textiles Temporarily Closes Pulp and Paper Division

Lalkua, Dist. Nainital, Uttarakhand, India, 23 December 2011 -- Century Textiles & Industries has temporarily shut down its pulp and paper division operations in Lalkua, Dist. Nainital, Uttarakhand, effective from 23 December 2011.

The company shut down its division to comply with certain pollution control requirements and other technical reasons. Efforts are being made to resume operations as soon as possible.

Additionally, the company's stock underperformed the market over the past month, until 22 December 2011, falling 15.48% compared with the Sensex`s 1.57% decline. It underperformed the market in the past quarter, declining 20.32% as against 3.35% fall in the Sensex.

Shares of the company gained INR 0.5, or 0.22%, to trade at INR 232.25. The total volume of shares traded was 39,867 at the BSE (11.32 a.m., Friday).
