Ainsworth Lumber Co. and Unions Reach Labor Agreements

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, 20 August 2010 -- Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. (TSX: ANS and ANS.WT) announced today that it has reached new four year labor agreements with unionized workers at its mills in Barwick, Ontario, and 100 Mile House, British Columbia.

Members of the Communications, Energy, and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP), Local 324-99, ratified the Barwick mill agreement late last night. The previous contract expired 31 July 2009. Members of the Pulp, Paper, and Woodworkers Union of Canada (PPWC), Local 9, ratified the 100 Mile House agreement today. The previous contract expired 30 June 2009.

The new labor agreements, which involve 135 employees at the Barwick mill and 125 employees at the 100 Mile House mill, were reached without any work stoppage or production disruption.

With the ratification of these agreements, the company now has new multiyear contracts in place with workers at all of its unionized facilities.
