White Birch Paper Company Limits Newsprint Production

Greenwich, Connecticut, USA, 30 March 2009 -- /PRNewswire/ -- White Birch Paper Company announced today that it will take market related downtime at its Papier Masson mill in Masson Angers, Quebec, Canada. The planned shutdown will take place from 03-13 April 2009 and will result in approximately 7000 metric tons of reduced newsprint production. White Birch will maintain adequate inventories to ensure that its customers will not experience any service interruptions during the shutdown.
 
White Birch Paper Company is the second largest newsprint manufacturer in North America, with approximately 1.25 million metric tons of uncoated groundwood production capacity. In addition to newsprint, White Birch produces uncoated specialty paper, directory paper, and paperboard at its mills in Quebec City, Riviere-du-Loup, and Gatineau, Quebec; and Ashland, Virginia, USA.
