WestRock Facility Remain on Strike
Print

Sioux City, Iowa, USA 30 March 2016 -- (From KCAU-TV) -- Union workers at the local WestRock corrugated packaging company have been on strike for nearly a month now. Workers are continuing to protest and rally in front of the Sioux City West Rock facility located on West 8th Street.

About 25 people picketed on Tuesday.

Labor representatives say workers are holding out for fair contracting during the negotiations with the company to resolve ongoing issues.

"The company has given plenty of proposals that are going to take money out of people's pockets and we just want something that's fair and equitable so that these people aren't losing money in the end," said Union Rep Douglas Day.

Workers say they plan to stay on strike until a new contract is negotiated. West Rock workers are represented by the International Assoc. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
