Wausau Paper Plans New Midwest Distribution Hub in Bedford Park
Print
Mosinee, Wisconsin, USA, 21 January 2009 -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Wausau Paper (NYSE:WPP) today announced that Bedford Park, Illinois, was selected as the location for its new Printing & Writing distribution hub. Bedford Park, a southwestern suburb of Chicago, was chosen for its proximity to key Midwest commercial printing markets and the company's network of merchant distribution partners. Transitional operations will begin shortly and once fully operational in mid-2009, the company's overnight and same-day delivery service will be available to an increased number of central U.S. customers.

The opening of this new distribution hub is a key element of the USD 6.6 million capital project, announced in December 2008, to consolidate converting capacity and streamline distribution within the company's Printing & Writing business.

"Establishing this centralized distribution hub emphasizes our continued commitment to the commercial printing industry, merchant distribution partners, and retail customers by further enhancing the high level of service we provide through our 'Think Service' program," said Daniel R. Trettin, senior vice president - Printing & Writing. "In addition, the new distribution hub will reduce transportation and operating costs, helping us to achieve the second of our recovery plan targets -- to reestablish cost-of-capital returns in this business segment."
