Voith Paper to Supply New Headbox and Automation Technology for Munksjö Paper PM 3
Print
Heidenheim, Germany, 03 July 2006 -- Munksjö Paper GmbH has commissioned Voith Paper to modernize its PM 3 at Aalen-Unterkochen, Germany. To keep up with future quality demands, Munksjö Paper has decided to install a MasterJet II F/B headbox with ModuleJet dilution technology. The conversion will include a comprehensive upgrading of the existing PM 3 automation systems.

Voith Paper will take on full responsibility for the modernization of the technical part as well as the quality control system of the PM 3. This investment enables Munksjö Paper to meet future high expectations on the quality of their decor paper. Decisive factors are
* the combined advantages of state-of-the-art headbox technology with EdgeModule system,
* further improving the fiber orientation profile,
* the ModuleJet dilution technology, and
* the dedicated Profilmatic control software of the OnQ quality control system.

The order will include delivery of the headbox and modernization of the technologically outdated, 20-year-old Lippke scanner system. This will be replaced by an OnQ Scanner including a basis weight, an ash, and a service sensor. Additionally, PM 3 will be equipped with OnQ machine direction basis weight controls, coordinated speed change, and automatic grade change controls.

Delivery will also include an OnControl application for control of the headbox and the refiner. All data of the PM 3 will be centrally stored on the OnV Platform server as part of the OnView information system. This enables analyses, online observations, and reports to be viewed and controlled using only one user interface.

The Swedish company Munksjö Paper is one of the worldwide market leaders in decor paper production. The mill in Aalen-Unterkochen was founded in 1613 and, since 1996, belongs to Munksjö AB. Three paper machines produce nearly 90,000 tons of decor paper a year at the mill. The mill has 321 employees. With a capacity of about 40,000 tons per year, the PM 3 is one of the most productive paper machines for the production of decor paper.

Voith Paper is a division of the Voith Group and one of the leading partners to the paper industry. The family owned company has approximately 30,000 employees, a turnover of EURO 3.5 billion, and more 200 locations world-wide.
