Comment Print
Heidenheim, Germany 05 August 2009 -- Voith Paper Automation received an order from Papelera de la Alqueria in Spain. The manufacturer of testliner and corrugated medium, which is used for corrugated containers, invested in a comprehensive new automation system to improve the quality of the end product and reduce operating costs.

The new automation solution delivered by Voith Paper Automation has a uniform visualization for all systems and integrates the DCS and QCS applications on one single platform. Two Voith LSC scanners are part of the scope of supply. The scanner in front of the reeler will be equipped with a basis weight, moisture, and traversing color sensors, whereas the scanner before the size press will have a moisture sensor. In combination with OnQ GradeControl, the model-based MD control, a fully integrated color control will be installed to manage up to 20 different dyes. Besides that Papelera de la Alqueria relies on the technical possibilities of the OnQ Profilmatic control software and the thousandfold used OnQ ModuleStep actuators for CD basis weight control at the headbox.

"We invest into our plants despite the world-wide difficult economic market situation, in order to be able to produce more cost-efficiently and secure with it our market position," said Javier Bernabeu, managing director of Papelera de la Alqueria. "By this modernization and enhancement we ensure a cost-efficient operation of the PM 1," he said.

The paper mill Papelera de la Alqueria has a paper machine and several converting plants to manufacture corrugated board, among other products.
