Heidenheim, Germany, 13 August 2009 -- CMPC Tissue, Latin America’s second largest tissue paper manufacturer, acquired from Voith Paper in early May a 5.6 m width machine to manufacture tissue paper at it’s Absormex subsidiary plant in Altamira, Mexico. The goal is to increase production capacity to meet the growing demand for their products in the Mexican market.

The design speed of this new machine will be 2000 m/min, with a 220 ton/day drying capacity. The start-up is scheduled for the second half of 2010.

Voith Paper will supply the approach flow, headbox, former, press- and drying section with hood, and a ribbed Yankee cylinder. The company will provide engineering, erection, start-up, and commissioning services. Voith Paper also will be responsible for the supply of the electrical and mechanical packages, including erection and commissioning of all the equipment necessary for the machine to operate, by means of the Process Line Package concept.

CMPC Tissue is the tissue business of the larger Chilean pulp and paper Empresas CMPC group. In 2008, the company’s consolidated sales reached USD 870 million.
