Sofidel to Build its Second Greenfield Tissue Mill in the USA

Porcari, Lucca, Italy 20 March 2018 -- Sofidel is pursuing its growth strategy and announces to build a second greenfield tissue mill in the USA. The site which is currently being built in Ohio will be ready for commissioning by the end of the year.

Italian manufacturer of tissue products Sofidel is pursuing its growth strategy. The company, which is currently working on the construction of a new greenfield mill in the USA, has announced that it will build a second production site in Inola/Oklahoma, an integrated facility for sanitary products. The company says it will invest $360m over the next three years for the purpose. Construction is scheduled to begin in March and to be completed by 2020.

According to Sofidel, the new plant will have two tissue machines with a combined capacity of 120,000 tpy as well as several other converting lines. One of the machines will produce mainly toilet paper, the other tissues.

"This new investment will support our growth in the US significantly", said Sofidel's CEO Luigi Lazzareschi, underscoring the importance of the US market for the company. Sofidel is currently implementing another project in the country. Construction is underway in Circleville/Ohio for a new integrated plant, also for sanitary products. Two machines with a total capacity of 140,000 tpy of tissue are coming up at the site. A company spokeswoman said that construction of the facility, which was announced at the end of 2015, would be completed by the end of 2018.
