Södra has Divested the Hauerseter Sawmill
Print
Stockholm, Sweden 07 January 2016 -- On 6 January 2016, Södra transferred the Hauerseter sawmill in Romerike, Norway, to RingAlm Tre As. Under the agreement, RingAlm Tre has committed to maintaining operations at the facility, and to taking over most of the sawmill's employees.

"I am very pleased that we have found a buyer that meets our expectations. This will be an ideal solution for both parties, and not least for Hauerseter's employees. However, our intense focus on construction timber in the Norwegian market will continue and we will be collaborating with RingAlm Tre," says Håkan Svensson, President of Södra Wood.

Södra is implementing structural changes in its sawmill and planing operations. In late September 2015, Södra decided to discontinue the sawing unit at the Hauerseter sawmill, but to continue the planing operations with a two-shift rotation. According to the schedule, the sawing unit was to remain operational until mid-February. A total of 17 full-time positions would be affected, mainly in production.

Södra has now transferred both the sawing and the planing unit at the Hauerseter sawmill, thus enabling both services to remain operational.
