Comment Print
Juniper, New Brunswick, Canada, 04 July 2007 – Norbord Inc. announced it has finalized an agreement to sell its I-joist assets in Juniper, New Brunswick, to International Beams, a subsidiary of Lebcorp Ltd. The transaction is effective immediately.

On 25 April 2007, Norbord announced the permanent closure of the I-joist facility, following the loss of the mill’s key customer. Approximately 85 employees were affected by the closure.

“Norbord appreciates the dedication of our employees and the community over the past seven years,” said Jean Roy, vice president of Norbord’s Northern Operations. “We wish them every success in the future.”

Built in 1998, the Juniper I-joist plant was acquired by Norbord in 2000. Norbord is an international producer of wood-based panels, employing approximately 2700 people at 15 plant locations in the United States, Europe, and Canada.
