NewPage Group Inc. Files Registration Statement For Initial Public Offering Of Common Stock

Miamisburg, Ohio, USA, 06 May 2008 -– NewPage Group Inc. filed a registration statement on 05 May 2008, with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering of its common stock.

NewPage Group Inc. is the parent company of NewPage Corporation. NewPage Corporation, headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio, is the largest coated paper manufacturer in North America, based on production capacity, with more than USD 4.7 billion in pro forma net sales for the year ended 31 December 2007. The company's product portfolio is the broadest in North America and includes coated freesheet, coated groundwood, supercalendered, newsprint, and specialty papers. These papers are used for corporate collateral, commercial printing, magazines, catalogs, books, coupons, inserts, newspapers, packaging applications, and direct mail advertising.

NewPage owns paper mills in the United States and Canada (Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nova Scotia, and Wisconsin). These mills have a total annual production capacity of approximately 5.5 million tons of paper, including approximately 4.3 million tons of coated paper, approximately 920,000 tons of uncoated paper and approximately 300,000 tons of specialty paper, as well as approximately 3.2 million tons of pulp.
