Mondi to Shape its Global Coating and Release Facilities
Print
London, England, 26 November 2007 -- Mondi today announced that it will go ahead with an investment program in its global coating and release production facilities.

Targeting the geographical area of western Europe, particularly Germany, Mondi will develop a new facility on a brown-field site that will be built next to the existing facility in Štětí, Czech Republic. With an investment of more than EUR 6 million over the next 12 months, the 2.7-m wide triple extruder with in-line printing will serve the reel wrapping industry and provide solutions for the building industry from 2009 onwards.

In early 2008, capacity and quality enhancements will be made at two existing 3.15-m machines at the extrusion coating plant in Örebro, Sweden. The focus will be on advanced quality control systems and superior printing capacity to strengthen the solutions portfolio for the reel and ream wrapping industry in Scandinavia and in export markets. This step is part of a long-term plan to further develop the market and cost position of the coating and release business in the industrial papers industry.

A new extrusion coater has been in operation in the U.S.-based facility in Lancaster, Ohio, since May 2007. Together with a planned new rewinder in the sister plant in Menasha, Wisconsin, the investment of more than EUR 4 million increases the solutions portfolio with locally produced poly ethylen coated papers.
