Metso to Supply Thermomechanical Pulping Line to Ortviken Paper Mill in Sweden

Helsinki, Finland, 22 November 2007 -- Metso Paper will supply a new, energy efficient thermomechanical pulping line to SCA’s Ortviken paper mill in Sweden. The new line will have a capacity of 440 metric tons/day and is to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2009. The order is valued at more than EUR 15 million.

The investment will lead to improved quality for coated papers, lower energy consumption, increased heat recovery, and greater pulp production. The delivery involves primary refining, separate reject refining, and new screen room, as well as erection, start-up, training, and commissioning.

The Ortviken paper mill produces newsprint and light-weight coated (LWC) paper. The total TMP capacity will be more than 2500 metric tons/day. Ortviken paper mill is a part of SCA’s Forest Products business area.
