MeadWestvaco to Locate Headquarters in Richmond, Virginia

Richmond, Virginia, USA 09 November 2006 – MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV) today announced it will establish its corporate headquarters facility in downtown Richmond, Virginia. The new headquarters will be part of a long-term development project named Foundry Park, and will be located on the riverfront site between 5th Street and 7th Street. Construction of the new headquarters will begin in 2007 and is expected to be completed around mid-2009.

"The downtown riverfront is the ideal place for MeadWestvaco to grow our business and contribute to Richmond's vibrant community," said John A. Luke, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer.
