Klabin Starts New Paper Machine Operation

São Paulo, Brazil, South America 03 February 2015 -- Klabin announces the start-up of Paper Machine 24, installed in Goiás Unit in Pernambuco. With the new machine, the Unit triples its recycled paper production capacity, leaping from the current 50,000 tons / year to 160,000 tons / year. This new capability, coupled with the increase of 15 thousand tons with the reform of Paper Machine 21 in Piracicaba (SP), will make Klabin reaches the full production of 270 thousand tons / year of recycled paper in 2015.

"The Northeast has increased consumption in sectors such as processed foods, fruit and construction, in which we position ourselves as a major supplier of packaging. Klabin is the market leader in all segments in which it operates and strengthen the company's presence in the region is extremely important to our business, "says the general director of Klabin, Fabio Schvartsman.

In this cycle of investments in packaging papers, Klabin has been performing since 2013 a series of expansions of their production capacity. In November 2013, inaugurated the Paper Machine 23 for production of 80 thousand tons / year of kraft sack in Unit Correia Pinto (SC). Last year, the company completed the expansion of the Paper Machine 9, at the Monte Alegre (PR) to increase by 50 thousand tons / year production of paperboard, and added 35 000 tonnes / year of kraft paper production machine Paper 14, Angatuba (SP). Thus, Klabin reach, in 2015, the production capacity of 2 million tons / year in paper.

Completing this cycle, following strong pace in the works for the construction of the new unit Ortigueira (Puma Project), which will start production in early 2016, raising Klabin's capacity of 2 million tons / year of paper to 3.5 million tons / year of paper and pulp. Thus, between 2013 and 2016, the company will have doubled its production capacity.
