Klabin Conducts Maintenance Shutdown at Correia Pinto Unit
Print

Correia Pinto, Brazil 20 July 2016 -- Klabin, Brazil's largest paper producer and exporter and the leading manufacturer of paper and board for packaging, corrugated board packaging and industrial bags, will conduct the Annual Maintenance Shutdown of the Correia Pinto Unit, in Santa Catarina, from August 1 to 26. The shutdown involves interrupting paper production to perform the maintenance required to ensure that all equipment continues to operate properly, the safety of the facility and the quality of the production process.

During the period, 60 outsourced companies and some 1,400 outsourced workers will be involved in the activities. Some of the main activities include inspections of boilers, digesters, power generation and distribution systems and production process control systems. The number of temporary workers requires additional logistics and infrastructure, such as transportation, accommodation, meals and other items that help boost demand and the local economy of Correia Pinto and the surrounding region. Other benefits generated by the shutdown include the generation of taxes for the city and increased traffic at hotels, bars, restaurants and stores, as well as support services for accommodating workers in the city.

During the operation, the local community may notice different smells and noises coming from the plant, especially on the first two days, which mark the start of maintenance activities, and on days 25 and 26, when operations are resumed. However, please note that these changes do not pose any threat to public health or to the environment.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Klabin at the 24/7 toll-free number 0800 721 0228.
