Print

Punjab, India, 15 June 2012 -- A devastating fire broke out at the Khanna Paper Mills, one of the leading paper manufacturers in India, on 12 June 2012.

The fire started at about 2:00 p.m. local time in the mill's waste stockyard.

About 60,000 to 70,000 metric tons of waste paper in the mill caught fire.

Suneet Kochhar, the director of the mill, said the company has not determined the monetary value of the paper destroyed by the fire.

Khanna Paper supplies newsprint to some of the major newspapers of the region, and exports newsprint to Pakistan.
