Downtime at Kimberly Clark Tissue Plant in France Due to Strike

Dallas, Texas, USA 26 October 2018 -- Kimberly Clark's planned restructuring programme is making employees in France nervous. Rumours say that the Sotteville-Lès-Rouen plant might be sold or closed and employees demand that they be informed.

Workers at Kimberly Clark's tissue plant in Sotteville-Lès-Rouen in northern France have downed tools from 18 to 21 October. According to a spokesperson of the Filpac CGT union, production was completely down during this period.

The spokesperson explained that employees had gone on strike in order to protest against the lack of information from the management concerning the future of the site. Kimberly Clark had announced at the beginning of the year that it wanted to restructure its businesses. This includes the closure or sale of ten facilities worldwide. Rumours say that the Sotteville-Lès-Rouen plant might be affected by the measures.
