Container Train Transport from Ishinomaki Mill Resumes
Print

Tokyo, Japan 14 February 2013 -- Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Yoshio Haga) today resumed the transportation of products by container train from Ishinomaki Mill (Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture) where damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

While Ishinomaki-port Station adjoining the mill, operated by Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight), resumed rail transportation in October 2012, the entire track inside the Ishinomaki Mill was swept away by the tsunami in the Great East Japan Earthquake, so containers loaded with goods had to be carried by truck from the Ishinomaki Mill to Ishinomaki-port Station. With the completion of restoration work to the track inside the mill linking the Ishinomaki Mill to Ishinomaki-port Station, products can now be transported all over Japan by container train directly from the Ishinomaki Mill as they were prior to the disaster.
