Burgo Slates Downtime at Duino Mill
Print

Vicenza, Italy 24 July 2013 -- Italian paper manufacturer Burgo will take more market-related downtime at the LWC paper mill in Duino-Aurisina near Trieste.

Production at the Duino mill will be stopped from 2 until 10 August, explained a spokesman for the Italian Slc Cgil trade union. However, it was assumed that Burgo will extend the August downtime by a few more days. The company attributed this decision to the poor order situation on the market for coated mechanical paper, according to the union representative.

At the Duino mill, Burgo operates two paper machines with a production capacity of 300,000 tpy of LWC and MWC paper. Burgo already introduced commercial downtime at the Duino mill for a week in June.

With these temporary shutdowns, Burgo was trying to combine its existing orders and make the capacity utilisation of individual coated magazine paper machines more efficient, the union spokesman said. Idling measures similar to those in Duino had also been carried out in June or July at the Villorba mill and on the PM 8 at the Verzuolo facility.
