Aditya Birla Buys Swedish Pulp Maker Domsjo Fabriker
Print

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, 18 April 2011 -- Aditya Birla Group, a Mumbai-based conglomerate that has grown mainly through acquisitions over the past 15 years, has bought Swedish pulp maker Domsjo Fabriker for USD 340 million. This is the Group's second acquisition in two days, signalling its intent to grow the fiber business globally.

The acquisition of the unlisted Domsjo, which is owned by six individuals, will consolidate Birla's position as one of the leading makers of viscose staple fiber (VSF) and also lower its cost of production.
